Monday April 26th 1976 was nothing special quality wise, but was notable for having two meetings that couldn’t happen today – namely Warwick on the flat, and Folkestone, which hosted a Hunter Chase card. Bath on the flat, and huge fields at Hexham, including a future Grand National winner, completed the day.

A devotee of horse racing’s halcyon days from the 1960s to the 1990s, Steve caught the racing bug as a small boy living near Catterick racecourse, where he was lucky enough to see the great Red Rum in action in the 1970s.
