Something a little different today as we look back at a jockey who has found this website very useful in tracing his past.
Patrick James Young was born in Newcastle on November 7, 1954, and became the first jockey to win the Crown Plus Two Apprentice Championship two years in succession (1975-76).
He was apprenticed to Peter Robinson, and rode his first winner, Campari, at Newmarket on August 7, 1971.
He once rode four winners in a day at Carlisle (28/07/1977) and, in 1981, won both the Chester Cup and Royal Ascot’s Queen Alexandra Stakes on Donegal Prince.
