Perhaps the most iconic finish to a steeplechase in memory took place on Saturday April 28th 1984 at Sandown, when the Queen Mother’s Special Cargo won a classic renewal of the Whitbread Gold Cup in a pulsating battle up the Esher hill. I have posted the video of this race for your enjoyment.
