Another muddy Festival in 1980 saw some desperately tired horses coming up the famous Cheltenham hill. Here is the card from Wednesday 12 March, plus the meeting at Stockton.

  1. Hi Steve
I’ve been looking at the newspaper articles covering the Cheltenham festival in the 70’s/80’s, the era I grew up in. Is there a way of finding the following years: 1968, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 75, 76, 79, 81, 85 & 87! Phew! I’m looking into the possibility of writing a book about the hurdlers of that era, and have a lot of background on the races etc, but would be great to see some of the pre-race predictions, tips, post race reaction from the newspapers.
Would be open to paying for your time, if it’s a lot of work?
    Thanks
